A St Lucia Holiday not in a mainstream hotel, could be a lot more fun, and of far better quality than you might believe. There are a number of condominium type self catering  places available with some of the facilities of an hotel, but few better than Oasis Marigot at Marigot Bay. The Oasis Marigot is in fact a vacation community consisting of 12 private sea houses on the hillside overlooking Marigot Bay, all well furnished and fully equipped, offering both privacy and intimacy. Oasis Marigot has different accommodations to suit different budgets. For example you could stay at Ocean Cottage which has four bungalow style units which share a private pool. If you choose this, then make sure you book an upstairs room which have much more room, and a much better view, and yet cost the same.

On the other hand you could book the top  priced  Emerald Hill two bedroomed Villa with its own plunge pool, or the Great House with its own pool, or Villa St Lucia, with pool, or the Caribbean Blue Suite which has air conditioning in the bedroom.

It is worth knowing that Oasis Marigot has a property is Soufriere called Villa des Pitons, right between the Piton Mountains. This is just unbelievable accommodation with incredible attention to detail, and uninterrupted views of the sea and the Pitons, that quite frankly you wouldn’t believe

Whatever accommodation you choose, Oasis Marigot is a special place, with views to be staggered by from all of them.

To get down to more basic things like feeding, and activities, then if this is where you might end up on your St Lucia holiday, then the following might be useful.

Firstly the Oasis Marigot isn’t for people with walking difficulties, there is a steep hill to climb to get to most of the units.

The bay below consists of three resorts, five restaurants, with local shopping including a grocery and a bakery. It is great to go to the bakery in the morning for delicious pastries or supplies for lunch.

You access this by ferry which awaits on the beach below Oasis Marigot. They will drop you at the restaurant of your choice, and then pick you up again.

If you are going to sit on the beach, then invest in a collapsible soft side cool bag, and use it to store cold drinks, and use ice bought from the grocers.

You will be eating at local restaurants, although you of course have a small kitchen if you choose to stay in, but hire a car so you can see more of the lovely island. It is a tragedy if you holiday on St Lucia and don’t see it all.

You must go to Chateau MyGo where they have ‘Happy Hour’ until you well content, and then eat a great pizza.

Rainforest Hideaway restaurant seems to get the best reviews

Do book a sail with Captain Blade, take a bicycle ride through the rainforest and pay up front for a week’s water sport rental, which is really quite inexpensive.

Finally the staff at Oasis marigot help make your holiday in St Lucia. They are very helpful from the moment you arrive with your luggage, until you depart. Happy and smiling nothing is too much trouble.
